Yongkang Gr
Type Locality and Naming
Eastern Zhejiang. In 1959 the Zhejiang Petroleum Geological Team erected the Yongkang Formation in their summary report on the petroleum geological work of Zhejiang (unpublished), consisting of the Guantou bed and the Chaochuan bed, which was assigned to Early Cretaceous. In 1962 the Zhejiang Regional Geological Survey Team recalled them the Guantou Fm and the Chaochuan Fm, and also recalled the Fangyan conglomerate above the Chaochuan Fm as the Fangyan Fm, and assigned it to Early Cretaceous. In 1980 Ju Tianyin et al called collectively the three formations the Yongkang Group, represented by a set of intracontinental fluvial-lacustrine sedimentary rocks with volcanic rocks. During the stratigraphic sorting of Zhejiang in 1994, the Qiaoshan Fm was also included into the present group. It is suggested by the present lexicon that the Yongkang Group is composed of the Guantou Fm, Chaochuan Fm and Fangyan Fm in ascending order.
